Site Services was awarded this project in May of 2012 from Hasse Construction. This project originally included 6,700 square yards of heavy duty asphalt paving, but we provided alternate pricing for using Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC). The RCC specification offered 15% greater structural strength using 4” of stone and 7” of RCC. Based on their past experience with concrete pavements and the very similar cost between the 2 pavements, Safety Kleen clearly understood the benefits offered by RCC and selected RCC for their project. The RCC was installed in 3 phases with onsite testing present for each phase. Site Services teamed with Ozinga Ready Mix to ensure the strict quality control necessary for the materials. Each phase was closed to traffic for 3 days. The cylinder break tests provided results that exceeded everyone’s expectations – 3 day breaks came in between 6,800 to 6,900 PSI, 7 day were 7,600 to 7,800 psi, and 28 day breaks ranged between 8,900 and 9,200 psi. Site Services received an Oustanding Acheivement award for the use of RCC for this project from the Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association (IRMCA).
“I was very satisfied with the work Site Services did over the summer. I am well satisfied with the final outcome and look forward to working with your company again next year.”
